Supporting industries (CNHT) play a key role in the province’s industrial development. This sector is attracting many investment sources of domestic and foreign enterprises, gradually participating in the global value chain.

Major Group Partners

By the end of 2021, the value of organic agriculture accounts for about 50% of the production value of the whole industry, equivalent to VND 150 trillion. In the first 3 months of 2022, the value of organic agricultural products reached more than VND 30 trillion. Many corporations and enterprises at home and abroad after a successful period of investment in the province have increased their capital and expanded their production.

Pavonine Vina Co., Ltd (B1 Tien Hung Industrial Park, Phu My) is one of the main suppliers of high-grade aluminum electronic accessories for Samsung Group. Lee Minseog, Chief Human Resources Officer, said that in 2022, the company expects to outsource about 2 million products, an increase of 30% compared to 2021. The products include television frames and various electronic products as ordered by the partner. Currently, the company has orders expired in 2022.

“We have been planning to invest in more automation machines in the production line system to increase capacity by 30%. To become a Samsung partner, participating in the global supply chain, businesses must invest in modern machinery. Along with that, Samsung also requires enterprises in the chain to pay attention to the labor environment, ”Lee Minseog emphasized.

To become partners of large domestic and foreign corporations, enterprises in the province have been constantly investing in advanced and modern technology machinery to meet international standards.

According to Lee Sung Jae, General Director of Dongjin Global (Red Land 1 Industrial Park, Red Land district), the company is concentrating on manufacturing automotive products, cables, wires and components. Enterprises have invested in modern machinery, product standardization… with the desire to become partners of car corporations in the world.

“We always focus on code improvement, branding, standardizing our products according to international standards to provide quality products for domestic and foreign partners,” Lee Sung Jae said.

Go into depth

According to the assessment of the functional sector, the scale of enterprises in the field of organic agriculture is small, low production capacity, lack of resources and technology to improve productivity. The products of CNHT are simple, not high in content. In addition, the import of super materials, components and spare parts is very large; the rate of localization of industries is still low.

Although there are still few difficulties, the province has set a goal from now to 2025 to develop the industry in depth associated with environmental protection, with emphasis on the development of mechanical engineering, manufacturing, and chemical industry. Since then, BR-VT has become a model province for industrial development. In particular, in order to develop the field of organic agriculture, in 2021, the province implemented the project “Support for SME business in the framework of the universalization and commercialization program for SMEs through the introduction of Vietnamese products produced by Tsubame-Sanjo and Tsubame-Sanjo brand in Vietnam” funded by Japan International Cooperation Agency.

Evaluations from the enterprises participating in this program show that participating in the project helps enterprises to see the weaknesses in the application of technology in production, construction and brand protection… Since then, there has been a more effective adjustment of production and business strategies.

According to Mr. Pham Duy Theo, Director of PECSI Power and Control System Integration Joint Stock Company (Dong Xuyen Industrial Park, Vung Tau), the company previously specializes in the production of technological, electrical and control equipment for the oil and gas industry. However, in the last 2 years, the oil and gas sector has encountered difficulties, enterprises have moved to research and manufacture equipment for agriculture. Therefore, the company wishes to cooperate with enterprises in Ho Chi Minh City. Tsubame – Sanjo to produce mechanical products such as knives, scissors, pliers and products for the beauty needs of JICA project.

Speaking about the orientation of the development of high-quality organic agriculture and industry in the coming years, Mr. Nguyen Cong Vinh, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee said that, in 2022 and the following years, BR-VT will focus on the development of organic agriculture associated with smart technology. At the same time, continue to persist in attracting selective investment in large-scale projects with modern technology, high added value, no labour-intensive, environmentally friendly.

The province also actively implements the project and plans to restructure the industry; continue to develop industrial production in-depth to gradually create products with national brands and competitiveness in the regional and world markets; develop high-quality industry to participate more deeply in the global value chain.

Along with attracting modern projects, the entry into operation of the PP Production Plant and the Hyosung Group’s liquefied petroleum gas underground storage by the end of 2021 and the Southern Petrochemical Complex by 2023 will help BR-VT accomplish its goal of becoming a model province for industrial development associated with environmental protection by 2025.
